How to position workpieces quickly and reliably in the sub-µm range? The LINPOS direct-drive linear stages make this very easy. Today I would like to prove this to you with the help of a recent application example, the HoloAMS 3D measuring stand developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques IPM. 

I am particularly proud of the fact that we were able to impress the Fraunhofer IPM with the performance and reliability of our components. As the optical 3D measuring stand is designed for use in an industrial environment, the project team did not want any surprises and opted for the proven OWIS quality!

We introduce you to the system in the current application report. You'll also find a short video showing the two LINPOS in action inside the HoloAMS.

OWIS positioning systems in digital-holographic 3D measurement technology

Digital holographic 3D measurement technology enables fast and highly precise measurement of the workpiece surface. In the optical 3D measuring stand HoloAMS developed by Fraunhofer IPM, predefined measuring fields are approached, recorded and then combined to form an image for the automated execution of the measuring tasks.

The high-precision positioning of the workpiece in the x-y axis is achieved with two direct-drive linear stages LINPOS M and the positioning controller PS 90+.

LINPOS combines a powerful direct drive with a fine-resolution incremental linear measuring system. This results in 6 advantages:
